At The Drive-In

I'll change my ways,
And write you letters.
Till the day we meet.
And even after then,
I won't ask questions
About where you've been.
That doesn't matter now.

I'll cut your hair,
Fives inches too short,
Play with your toys.
Run out your doors.
Just don't have me
When I leave.
I won't be long,
On trains and ticking clocks.
They'll call the police,
Don't let them in.
They don't need a reason
Why.

Don't sign the lease,
We'll be leaving soon.
I'll meet you in,
Vaulted alleyways.
Then we'll begin,
In bastard yesterdays.
Get in my boat,
And fly away,
Fly away.

Go to the moon,
Before it's all gone.
I'll be there soon,
Just before the dawn.

The dolls won't sail,
Down the river,
To the phoenix whale,
You're not dead inside.

And I'll change my ways,
To send you letters.
This is how it ends.
After you're happy
Enough to stand the light.
Stay awake long enough,
Find a dollar bill.
Put it to use,
Meet me at the store,
With priest and faithful wife.
We'll shoot them,
If they try to stop us.

Pick the flowers and wait,
Right here.
Until you know I'm gone.
But you'll never leave,
Because the promise made.

No scale, not rhythm,
A fony faik pa-raid.
A falsetto tongue, a man.
All waiting at the border.
I wanna blow it all to dust.
Grow so big, they can't
Won't hold me down.

Build a wall, and live
It out,
But I stop to hear your voice.
"That's not the way to go."
Someone said that the
Fork in the road leads
A man to faulty plans,
And there you are instead.

Hand me the keys,
You'll not be driving tonight.
Hand em over, it's not over.
Don't want to see the airbag,
At least not tonight.

Get in the car, I'll drive
It far, off into the night.
I'll can't sing,
But I'll try tonight.
Spiderweb windshied,
Voice's cracks.

One too many the
Rounds, they go.
Moving fast, moving slow.
And I'll change my ways,
If you really need me.
Write you letters,
Cause it really feeds me.
Write your name, a
Hundered times with my pen.

Just don't drive away.
I'll be a better man.
I'll wear contacts,
And have even features.
Perfect my teeth,
And hang my head.
Maybe write a song or two.
If I really try.
Hear a baby's cry.
Or two.
You can decide.
Become a citizen.
An American sin.
I'll leave for you,
In written letters,
Changing my ways,
If you wish.
Because you gave me
the keys.
And stayed with me.
What's wrong with changing,
When your a bad man.

No more symbolism.
Or fragmented lines,
To say something so simply.
I'll change my ways,
Because love tells me too.
